1. Wyndham devalues tomorrow — top hotels jump 50% to 45,000 points

WHAT HAPPENED — Effective September 15, Wyndham Rewards moves from a three-tier award chart (7,500 / 15,000 / 30,000) to four tiers: 5,000 / 15,000 / 30,000 / 45,000. Wyndham's own tier-update page confirms the new 45,000-point top band is reserved for "the most elevated hotels," while the entry price drops from 7,500 to 5,000 points. Hotels are being redistributed across all four tiers, and Wyndham says the majority will land in the 5K–30K bands.

WHY IT MATTERS — This is a straight 50% price increase on exactly the properties Wyndham points were worth using for — the Registry Collection and high-end Vacasa rentals that made a 30,000-point cap feel like a loophole. The 5,000-point floor is real, but it's the consolation prize.

2. Chase overhauls the Aeroplan card — 115,000 points, automatic 25K status, and a stackable 30% transfer bonus

WHAT HAPPENED — On September 10, Chase relaunched the product as the Chase Air Canada Aeroplan® Credit Card. The annual fee rises to $195, but the card now grants automatic Aeroplan 25K status with no spend requirement, 15% off eligible Air Canada flight redemptions, up to $100 in annual Air Canada statement credits (two $50 drops), a $120 Global Entry/TSA PreCheck/NEXUS credit, and a 4th-night-free benefit on hotel redemptions. Chase says the new benefits apply to existing cardmembers as of September 10. WHY IT MATTERS — Aeroplan is the most flexible Star Alliance currency in the U.S. market, and Chase just made the on-ramp cheaper while the exit door is temporarily wider. 3. Amex's 30% Avios bonus has 13 days left — and the Hilton bonus next to it is a trap

WHAT HAPPENED — American Express is running a 30% transfer bonus from Membership Rewards to British Airways, Iberia and Aer Lingus Avios through September 27, making the effective rate 1:1.3. Running alongside it: a 30% bonus to Hilton Honors through October 14, which moves the ratio to 1:2.6.

WHY IT MATTERS — The Avios bonus is the strongest live transferable-points play on the board: Iberia's off-peak transatlantic business class and British Airways' short-haul Reward Flight Saver seats both price well below what a 1.3-cent Membership Rewards point should buy. The Hilton bonus looks bigger on paper and isn't — even at 2.6 Hilton points per MR point, you're converting a premium currency into one with no award chart and no ceiling on redemption rates.

YOUR MOVE — Transfer to Avios only against a confirmed award you've already found; Avios pools across BA, Iberia and Aer Lingus, so transfer to whichever program prices your route best and move it after. Skip the Hilton bonus unless you have a specific high-rate redemption priced out and the math beats 0.5 cents per MR point.

4. Alaska's best card offer is being pulled — 80,000 points plus a companion award

WHAT HAPPENED — The Atmos Rewards Summit Visa Infinite card (Bank of America) is currently offering 80,000 bonus points plus a 25,000-point Global Companion Award after $4,000 in purchases within 90 days, on a $395 annual fee. Gary Leff at View from the Wing reports the offer is ending, sourced from official channels — but no end date has been published, and we could not verify one on Alaska's or Bank of America's application pages. Treat "soon" as literal.

WHY IT MATTERS — The Global Companion Award is the differentiator: it's an annual 25,000-point certificate that brings a companion along on an award booking, including on long-haul partner premium cabins, and it renews every card anniversary. That's a recurring benefit, not a one-time sweetener — and post-Hawaiian integration, Atmos points reach oneworld and non-alliance partners that no other U.S. airline card touches.

YOUR MOVE — If you were already going to pick this card up, do it this week rather than next. If you weren't, don't let a soft "ending soon" rush you into a $395 fee — Alaska has brought elevated Summit offers back before.

5. Two quiet nerfs with hard dates: Wells Fargo kills points gifting, Citi drops JetBlue on one card

WHAT HAPPENED — As of September 25, Wells Fargo cardholders can no longer gift or transfer rewards to another Wells Fargo cardholder, and automatic redemptions end; points from multiple personal accounts also no longer combine automatically, though you can still manually combine balances between your own accounts. Separately, effective September 20, Citi is removing JetBlue as a transfer option — but only from the legacy Citi ThankYou® Mastercard. Citi's own July 13 clarification states the other no-annual-fee ThankYou cards keep JetBlue transfers at their current rate, which corrects the wider initial reporting that Double Cash, Custom Cash, Rewards+ and Strata were all affected.

WHY IT MATTERS — Two-player households run on pooling. Wells Fargo's change removes the one mechanic that made a P1/P2 Autograph Journey setup worth building, and it is not reversible after the 25th.

YOUR MOVE — If you and a partner hold separate Wells Fargo cards, consolidate every point into the account you actually redeem from before September 25. Citi ThankYou Mastercard holders wanting JetBlue should move points by September 19 — though at 1:0.7, that's rarely the right redemption anyway.
